Valley Sports Report
TRUMANSBURG — Trumansburg scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off with an 8-7 win over Tioga in a back-and-forth affair here Friday afternoon in IAC baseball action.

Tioga took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run double by junior Garrett Godfrey, but Trumansburg countered with four runs in the bottom of the second take a 4-2 lead.

The Tigers took advantage of four base on balls, and got an RBI double from senior Cam Rought, to score two runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 4-4, but the Blue Raiders responded with two runs in the home half of the inning to take a 6-4 lead.

Tioga closed the gap to 6-5 in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Rought, then scored two runs in the top of fifth inning on a Trumansburg error to take a 7-6 lead.

Trumansburg scored the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a passed ball, and had the bases loaded, but Tioga reliever Shea Bailey registered a strikeout to end the threat.

Rought led off the top of the seventh with a single, and junior Zac Mumbulo stroked a two-out single to move him to third base, but the Tigers were unable to get a big two-out hit.

Trumansburg’s first three batters in the bottom of the seventh worked walks to load the bases, and Aiden Millspaugh scampered home on a passed ball with the game-winning run.

Rought had three hits, including a double, one runs scored, and two RBI, and Mumbulo stroked two singles, scored one run, and drove in one run to pace Tioga’s eighth-hit attack, while Godfrey doubled and had two RBI, and Bellis and Bailey each singled, and scored two runs.

Bailey was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs — one earned — on one hit and six walks, while striking out three in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Tioga has now lost three games in a row by a total of four runs, including back-to-back one-run setbacks.

The Tigers, now 7-3, return to action Monday when they host Newark Valley.
