TIOGA CENTER — Tioga celebrated its 2014 home opener at Haggerty Field Friday night with a 56-6 rout of Candor and a record-setting performance by junior Jesse Manuel.

Manuel entered the game needing 195 yards to eclipse the school's career rushing record of 4,223 yards, set by Brian Dougherty from 1977-80. He wasted little time in etching his name into the record book, gaining 215 yards in the first half. ...more

ATHENS — Ryan Segar scored twice in the first half and assisted on a third goal as Athens got off to a quick start en route to a 3-1 win over Troy here Monday evening in NTL boys soccer action at Alumni Stadium.

A little less than four minutes into the game, Segar took a feed from Jarret Priester and fired it past Troy keeper Trevor Ward to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. ...more

SAYRE — Seven different Redskins found the back of the net in an 8-2 rout of Towanda here Monday night in NTL boys soccer action at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

The Redskins, who moved into a four-way tie for first place with Wellsboro's loss to Williamson Monday, were led by two goals from Nate Williams and four assists from Austin Rowe.

After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless soccer, senior Williams penetrated deep into the Towanda end and made a "spectacular cross" in front of the goal to the foot of freshman Sam Wheeler, who knocked it past Towanda keeper Devin Patel for his first career goal. ...more
