SAYRE — Sophomore Shane Colegrove scored less than four minutes into the game to lift Athens to a 1-0 win over Sayre here Wednesday afternoon in a battle of first-place NTL teams in boys soccer action at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

The Wildcats improve to 8-1 with the win and remain tied atop the league standings with Wellsboro, which topped Liberty Wednesday, while Sayre falls into second-place at 7-2. Williamson is now 6-2-1 after a tie with NEB. ...more

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga shook off a slow start in the first set and then rolled to a sweep of previously-unbeaten Large School-leading Edison here Wednesday night in IAC volleyball action.

The Lady Spartans, now 7-1, jumped out to an 10-4 lead in the first set, but the Lady Tigers rallied — thanks in large part to eight straight service points from freshman Martha Schumacher— to take a 19-11 lead en route to a 25-23 win. ...more
